Quick Scope Call — Free
15–20 minutes, phone or Zoom. The first touchpoint. We talk about what you’re trying to do and what you’re working with. I determine whether a Light Consult or Full Consult is the right fit. No commitment, no pitch — just figuring out if I’m the right person to help.
Light Consult — $200–$250
~1 hour on-site. Single-system diagnostic for smaller properties (typically under 1 acre). Measurements, photos, constraints noted. Brief written scope summary within 3 business days. Designed for in-town clients who need one system spec’d right.
Best for: chicken coops, rainwater catchment, garden irrigation, greenhouse siting, small retaining walls.
Full Site Consult — $500
2–3 hours on-site + 1 hour follow-up. Whole-property diagnostic walk. Surfaces problems, priorities, and opportunities across your entire property. Scopes the design work ahead.
Travel: Free within 45 minutes of Yamhill. $100 flat for 45–60 minutes each way. $150 + mileage beyond 60 minutes.
Best for: multi-system properties (1–50 acres), new land owners planning infrastructure, existing homesteads with cascading problems.
System Design Catalog — $300 to $2,500
Individual systems designed to contractor-ready detail — dimensions, materials, loading assumptions, construction sequencing. A consult is required before any design work.
- Feed storage design: $300–$600
- Gravity feed water systems: $400–$800
- Irrigation design: $500–$1,000
- Greenhouse siting and design: $600–$1,200
- Rotational grazing infrastructure: $600–$1,200
- Rainwater catchment sizing and design: $600–$1,200
- Coop and animal housing design: $800–$1,500
- Retaining wall design: $800–$1,500
- Whole-property master plan: $1,500
Additional systems scoped on request. Every design deliverable is a written report with scope-dependent attachments — drawings, calculations, plans, material specifications.
Ongoing Support — $100/hour
Phone, email, Zoom for existing design clients. Billed in 2-hour minimum blocks.
Build Services
When a design leads naturally to construction, build services are available through Black Sheep Construction — a separate contract, a separate scope. Design and build are never bundled.
