The Problem

Off-the-shelf greenhouse kits were either too expensive, too small, or built for a different climate. Summer overheating killed crops. Winter light angles weren’t considered.

The Build

A custom timber-frame greenhouse designed for PNW conditions — passive ventilation, thermal mass for shoulder-season extension, hydroponics integration, and rainwater catchment tie-in. Mistakes corrected: original vent sizing was inadequate (doubled after first summer), and shade cloth was added as a retrofit that should’ve been in the original design.
