White Horse Farm

White Horse Farm

White Horse Farm is a 60-acre working homestead in Yamhill, Oregon — and the hands-on host venue for The Homestead Engineer workshops, site walks, and build demonstrations.

Where Theory Meets Dirt

Every system discussed here isn’t just theory. It’s built, tested, and refined on real ground at White Horse Farm — in a real climate — with real animals, real budgets, and real consequences when things go wrong. White Horse Farm is the proving ground.

The farm operates on a low-input, systems-thinking approach:

  • Rotational grazing with Barbados Blackbelly hair sheep — no worming, no grain
  • Muscovy duck systems for eggs and protein, integrated with food forest and water management
  • Greenhouse with hydroponics and rainwater-fed raised beds
  • Horses, pasture management, and manure cycling
  • Solar-powered infrastructure and off-grid experiments
  • Biochar production, composting, and soil building

Workshop Host

When we run in-person workshops — whether it’s a paddock move demonstration, a duck coop build, or a full property walk — they happen at White Horse Farm. You’re not in a conference room. You’re standing in the mud, looking at the thing we’re talking about.
